Breast Lifting

The breast lifting is a surgery for the purpose of bringing the sagging breasts to an upright position again. The purpose is to remove excess tissue in the large breasts while removing sagging and to enlarge the breast by using the prosthesis in the large breasts. While the drooping is removed, the nipples are placed in the required position.
Who is the Breast Lifting surgery performed for?
The Breast Lifting surgery is performed to the patients older than 18 years of age who have completed her puberty. However, the population that needs this surgery is generally young and middle-aged women who have completed their pregnancy and breastfeeding processes. Due to the factors such as weight gain, pregnancy and childbirth, and advancing age, the breasts can grow and sag, or they can also drop by emptying and shrinking.
Is the Breast Lift surgery a surgery with scars?
The breast lifting surgery is a surgery with scars. The scars similar to the breast reduction surgery remain. If the breast is both sagging and very large, the "Inverted T" shaped scar can remain, as well as what we call a "lollipop scar" (vertical mastopexy) can remain in the breasts that do not require reduction or require enlargement.
The vertical mastopexy is the most preferred and least scarring breast lift technique today.
Is the breast lifting alone sufficient?
While the prosthesis is placed and the breast is enlarged in the small and sagging breasts, the reduction process is also included in the surgery in the large and sagging breasts. 
What should be done and what should not be done before the surgery?
Before the surgery, the breast USG/mammography is required to be taken. This is an important data that is required to be kept in the future follow-up of the patient. The breast USG/mammography is repeated 1 year after the surgery. As it is in all surgeries, the smoking should be stopped 3 weeks in advance. The smoking is one of the most important factors that increase the wound healing problems. Aspirin and blood thinners should be stopped absolutely at least 1 week before.
Those being inconvenient to use before the surgery:
-The painkillers such as Apranax, Voltaren, Vermidon (Minoset, Novalgin can be used when pain relief is required),
-The multivitamin pills containing substances such as ginseng, gingko biloba, co-enzyme Q,
-Green tea, flaxseed, cherry stalk, tomato seed herbal products
How long does the Breast Lifting Surgery take and is anesthesia required?
The surgery takes 2-2.5 hours and is performed under the general anesthesia.
Is the Breast Lift surgery painful?
The surgeries where only the breast lifting and reduction of the breast combined with the breast lifting are not very painful. However, in the cases where the breast prosthesis is placed under the muscle, there is a painful period that usually lasts for 3 days, as in the prosthesis surgeries.
What happens after the Breast Lifting surgeries?
The patients can eat and stand up after 3 hours. 1 night hospitalization is required. She can take a bath after 2 days. There is a small dressing at the wound site. The special bras are used in order to be used for 6 weeks after the surgery. The patient comes to the control 3 days later. Afterwards, she comes to the controls in the 1st week, 1st month, 3rd month, 6th month and 1st year. The patient can return to work and drive after the 5th day. In the first 3 weeks, the sports are not recommended except for walking. After the 3rd week, the sports can be done except for the movements where the arm and chest muscles work. After the 6th week, all sports are free.
Does there be a loss of the sensation in the Breast Lift surgery and is the lactation been affected?
As in the breast reduction surgeries, there can be temporary loss of the sensation in the nipple. The permanent loss of the sensation is not an expected complication. The rates of not being able to breastfeed in the breast lifting surgeries without reduction have not been found to be higher than the normal population.
Are the results of the surgery permanent?
It is expected that there is a certain amount of sagging due to the gravity after the surgery, but there is never a sagging like before.
