Liposuction-Liposhaping

After the puberty, no new adipose cells are formed in the body. As the patient gain or lose weight, the existing adipose cells grow and shrink. In women, the lipoidosis is mostly in the hips, hips, legs and abdomen, and in men, it is in the belly and waist.
Although the adipose accumulation in the body is a source of distress for many people, the liposuction (alone or in combination with other operations) is one of the most frequently performed aesthetic surgical procedures. After the age of 30, the adipose in the certain areas is not affected by the sports and diet. As the patient lose more weight, for example, in women, the breasts become hollow, facial collapses occur, but the hips do not shrink. In such cases, the liposuction comes into play.
There can be adipose accumulation in the various regions due to the aging, weight gain and loss periods and pregnancy, and volume loss can occur in some regions. We call liposhaping, that is, the adipose shaping surgery, when the liposuction is applied during the same surgery and re-injection of the adipose taken to the areas with volume loss.
Who is liposhaping applied to?
First of all, it should be known that the liposuction is not a weight loss technique. It should be noted that the liposuction performed on the obese patients is only for the shaping purposes. With the liposuction, the excess adipose tissue is intervened and it is expected that the excess skin recovers on its own by means of its elasticity. For this reason, the elderly patients having the loss of skin elasticity, the patients having cracks in their body due to the excessive weight gain and loss are not very suitable. The ideal liposhaping patient is a young or middle-aged patient whose skin is elastic and not adipose.
How is the liposhaping done?
First of all, the drawings are made and it is designed from where, how much and at what depths the adipose will be taken. According to the amount of the adipose to be taken, the adipose is given and the areas that will look fuller and younger are calculated and marked. After the general anesthesia is applied, the local anesthetic is applied to the areas where adipose will be removed by minimizing the postoperative pain and making the adipose removal process easier. Afterwards, the adipose is taken through the small holes and the amount to be injected back is calculated, filtered or centrifuged. The filtered adipose tissue is injected into the areas that will be injected with much thinner cannulas.
Where the liposuction can be done?
While it is applied to the waist, belly, hips, legs and neck in women, it is applied to the waist, belly and breasts in men.
Where can the adipose taken by the liposuction be given?
The adipose taken can be given to the sunken parts of the legs, hip and face for rejuvenation and filling purposes, especially for women. It can be applied in small amounts of the breast augmentation as a silicone prosthesis support.
With which methods can the liposuction be done?
The liposuction is mostly applied with the classical vacuum technique. Specially developed liposuction aspirators with higher pulling pressure are available for this. The name of liposuction using the ultrasonic sound waves is VASER. The adipose is broken down by ultrasonic waves and the surgeon's job becomes easier. The longer surgery time and risk of burns formed are the disadvantages. The laser liposuction, on the other hand, functions as the destruction and removal of the adipose with the heat energy created by the laser. As with the VASER, it makes the surgeon's job easier. Its use is advantageous in the cases of secondary liposuction and in the cases of gynecomastia with the excess mammary gland tissue. Both VASER and laser liposuction have no superiority over the classical vacuum technique in terms of results.
What is the relationship between the liposuction and weight?
Since the liposuction is not a weight loss process and does body shaping, the ideal patient group is those having normal weight and excess adipose in the certain areas. It is a desired condition for the patients having excess weight to lose weight before the surgery, and more importantly, to maintain the weight after the liposuction procedure. If there is weight gain after the liposuction, since there will be accumulation in the areas where the liposuction is not performed, the treated areas can remain sunken compared to other areas and fluctuations can occur. The patient should know that the result of the procedure will be endangered when she gains weight.
Is the liposuction applied to the adipose patient?
The obese patients who are not in the obese class are the candidates for the liposuction on the subject of regional thinning. However, it should be emphasized over and over again that this method is not a weight loss method.
Is the anesthesia required for the liposuction procedure?
The liposuction that will be made in the small areas can be performed with the local anesthesia, but the general anesthesia is needed for the large areas.
What happens after the surgery?
The patients are asked to walk when they feel better after the surgery. There are small dressings in the cannula entrance holes and there can be leakage of the local anesthetic fluid from these dressings. It is something that should not be feared. Immediately after the surgery, the patient is dressed in appropriate corsets. The patient is expected to use this corset for 3 weeks. The patient can be discharged the next day. In the first 3 weeks, she is expected to do a sport other than walking. After the liposuction for the small areas, the patients can work even the next day, but after the procedures for the large areas, the bed rest will be required for 4-5 days. There will be bruising and yellowing in the areas where the liposuction is performed, which will last for about 3 weeks.
What should be done after the surgery?
Plenty of movement and fluid consumption are required for rapid post-operative edema. In addition, by applying the techniques such as LPG, radiofrequency and lymphatic massage, the edema is expected to regress faster.
What are the possible complications after the procedure?
There is a belief that the adipose embolism occurs after the liposuction and it causes death, and such a risk can be ignored in the liposuction procedures performed in the appropriate amounts. The adipose embolism after the liposuction is a very rare condition. Bleeding, pulmonary embolism and organ injuries can occur in the early period.
More aesthetic problems are seen in the late period. The pits, irregularities, skin color changes and contour disorders occurred on the skin are the most common complaints. The improper application of the method, excess adipose removal in some areas and poor skin elasticity of the patient are the most common causes of this. Therefore, choosing the right patient is very important for the outcome of the procedure.
Is it possible to gain weight in the areas where liposuction is applied?
Since the adipose cells in the area where the procedure is applied are also removed after the operation, there will be some thickening in these areas in case of the weight gain.
How much adipose can be removed with the liposuction?
The average amount of adipose to be taken is around 4-5 liters. The highest adipose that can be taken without threatening the patient's life is 10% of the body weight.
